巨型日本蜘蛛蟹 (Macrocheira kaempferi) 是世界現存最大的節肢動物。這種螃蟹在日本被稱為「Taka-ashi-gani」，意思是「長腿蟹」。身體可達40毫米長，腿長3.8米，體重19公斤！

曼徹斯特博物館的巨型日本蜘蛛蟹於 1904 年 1 月 19 日由 J.H.雅士和夫博士捐贈，至今仍是眾多博物館參觀者的拍攝最愛！
