Pyörillä varustettu leikkihevonen

Vaikka on vaikea sanoa onko pieniä leluilta näyttäviä esineitä käytetty aina leikkikaluina samaan tapaan kuin nykyaikana, on houkuttelevaa ajatella että tämä puinen pyörillä varustettu hevonen olisi toiminut aikanaan lapsen leluna. Myös useita muita samanlaisia esineitä tunnetaan, ja ne on mahdollisesti valmistettu viittaamaan Troijan hevoseen, eli muinaisessa kreikkalaisessa mytologiassa kuvattuun tarinaan Troijan puuhevosesta, jonka avulla kreikkalaiset onnistuivat tunkeutumaan Troijan kaupunkiin. Tarina on kuvattu esimerkiksi Vergiliuksen Aeneis-eepoksessa 1. vuosisadalla eKr.

Muita muinaisesta Egyptistä peräisin olevia mahdollisia leluja olivat pelattavat lautapelit, kuten senet, savihelistimet, nuket joiden hiukset oli koristeltu helmin, ja jopa pieni virtahepo jonka leuka avautui ja sulkeutui narun avulla!

Mikä oli sinun suosikkilelusi lapsena?

I saw a very similar toy on an episode of “Games of Thrones”. It was practically the same. Could it be possible that this toy, or a very similar one in another museum somewhere else in the world, inspired the prop makers who worked on this production? Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
