This tiny teapot with a flower design is thought to be a toy, made by or for a child. It comes from the Ankole region in Uganda, where Nkole people live. For Nkole girls, making small clay pots like this, and graduating onto making clay milk pots and their lids and covers, is a rite of passage as they grow up – particularly important because of this nation’s long association with the famous Ankole cattle, which have horns that can grow up to 1.8m (6ft) long.
