Cavalluccio a Rotelle

Sebbene sia difficile provare che certi oggetti erano adibiti all’uso di giocattoli per bambini nel senso moderno della parola, questo modello di un cavallo realizzato in legno potrebbe essere stato uno di questi. Uno fra i tanti oggetti di questo tipo a noi noti, questo cavalluccio forse rappresenta il Cavallo di Troia, descritto da Virgilio nell’Eneide nel primo secolo avanti Cristo.
Altri oggetti che potrebbero essere stati dei giocattoli e che risalgono all’epoca dell’Antico Egitto comprendono giochi da tavolo come ad esempio senet, sonagli in argilla, bambole con capelli acconciati con perline, ed anche oggetti come un ippopotamo con mandibole che si potevano aprire e chiudere tramite l’azione di una cordicella!

    I saw a very similar toy on an episode of “Games of Thrones”. It was practically the same. Could it be possible that this toy, or a very similar one in another museum somewhere else in the world, inspired the prop makers who worked on this production? Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
