Ten olbrzymi japoński krab pacyficzny to największy stawonóg na świecie! W Japonii znany jest jako ‘taka-ashi-gani’ co oznacza dosłownie ‘krab o wysokich nogach’. Długość głowotułowia tego stawonoga wynosić może nawet 40 cm, rozpiętość odnóży zaś prawie 4 metry! Japoński krab pacyficzny waży też nawet do 19 kilogramów!

Kraba podarował naszej muzealnej kolekcji Dr J.H. Ashworth w dniu 19 stycznia 1904 roku. Ten wyjątkowy okaz pozostaje od lat ulubieńcem odwiedzających Muzeum.
