مونال هیمالیای جفت

مُنال هیمالیا، پرنده ملی نپال است. تاریخ ‌نگاران طبیعی اروپایی معمولاً نام‌های جدیدی به پرندگان و حیواناتی که در نقاط مختلف جهان کشف می‌کردند، می‌دادند. برایان هاوتون هادگسون یکی از معدود افرادی بود که نام‌های محلی را برای گونه ‌هایی که هنوز در زبان‌های اروپایی مستند نشده بودند، در نظر گرفت. از جمله این موارد می‌توان به مُنال هیمالیا اشاره کرد که از واژه اردو «moonal» گرفته شده (که در نپالی به آن «danphe» نیز می‌گویند) و کُتیا هیمالیا که از واژه نپالی «khutya» آمده است.
