Maharajah

Maharajah ist ein asiatischer Elefant mit einer faszinierenden Geschichte. Er hat Kunstwerke und Romane inspiriert. Von Indien nach Edinburgh, Belle Vue, Manchester Museum und die letzte Station auf Maharajahs Reise war Piccadilly Bahnhof im letzten Sommer.
Das Manchester Museum arbeitet seit langem partnerschaftlich mit Gemeinschaften zusammen. Und im letzten Jahr waren Shabtis in Schulen, ein Pfau in einem Restaurant… und ein Elefant im Bahnhof Piccadilly!
Die Besitzer der Belle Vue Zoological Gardens kauften Maharajah 1872 von einem Wanderzirkus in Edinburgh.
Aber Maharajah konnte nicht überredet werden, den Zug zu nehmen, also ging Hüter Lorenzo Lawrence mit Maharajah zusammen, zu Fuß, dem 200er Meilenreise, die 10 Tage dauerte.
Es ist #savetheelephantday – Ein Tag, um auf die Gefahr, die Elefanten überwinden müssen um zu leben und auf verschiedene anderen Schwierigkeiten, aufmerksam zu machen.
